Boat House
The project draws on the memory of the senses, habits, relationships, and lived experiences between the Self and spaces, forms, and objects.
It proposes a reinterpretation of the suburban single-family homes of Portuguese heritage from the second half of the 20th century, acknowledging their amorphous nature and lack of architectural intent.
The structure and the composition of construction elements and materials are clarified. Precise measurements are defined—neither more nor less—to suit use, function, comfort, and beauty.
The aim is to create a light space, like a wooden boat elevated off the ground, resting on the hill where São Luís Gonzaga Fort stands.
